2021/2022 - TRAVEL TRYOUTS 5TH - 8TH GRADE BOYS

TRAVEL PROGRAM

The 2021-22 travel basketball season will officially commence on Tuesday, October 22nd with tryouts at the Canterbury Fieldhouse. Our practice days will remain Tuesdays and Thursdays - with some weekend practices during the first few weeks of the season. All teams will be joining the Fairfield County Basketball League this year, which will include playoffs. Games will tentatively start around the first week of December - schedules will be determined by each team.

The cost for this season will be $400.00.  As in years past, there will be an additional fee if a uniform and shooter shirt is needed. Uniform sizing will occur during tryouts and/or the first week of practice.  Due to the current supply of apparel and major shipping delays it is imperative that we get our order in as soon as possible.

Please be aware you will find a new COVID waiver in the registration program that must be accepted in order for your child to participate.  In addition, if you have an issue with following the Canterbury rules or the Covid-19 safety measures then please don’t register your player this season.   Anyone who doesn’t follow the rules will be removed from the program.

CANTERBURY/NMYBO TRAVEL RULES

  1. All parents should drop off at the front entrance of the school (across from the school) for practices. No loitering.  Players will exit through the side doors that lead out to Elkington Farm Road.  The safest place to pick up would be in the parking lot across the street from the Fieldhouse.
  2. Masks are required at all times in the building for all parents, siblings, spectators, fans, etc.
  3. Players and coaches must wear masks while entering/exiting and moving about the building.  Masks are not required for players and coaches while on the court during play - however, they can be worn for those that choose to.
  4. Players and coaches should arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before scheduled time.
  5. No spectators, parents, or siblings allowed in the building during practices.
  6. Spectators will be permitted in the Field House for games
  7. Upon entering the building, ALL spectators must go immediately into the Fieldhouse.  There is to be no loitering or "hanging out" in the lobby.  Games cannot be viewed from the big window.  NMYBO will be relying on you, as parents, to ensure that your children, families and friends abide by these rules.
  8. Players are not allowed on the court until their practice time and the coach is present.  Players must sit in the bleachers and wait their turn.
  9. Although cancellation is very unlikely, Canterbury reserves the right to cancel at any time.
  10. Basketball or court shoes shall only be worn while playing.  Sneakers worn outside are not permitted on the court.  Bring court shoes to change into after arrival and to change back into before exiting.  Any shoe that leaves a black mark on the floor shall not be worn.
  11. No Canterbury equipment may be used without permission.
  12. DO NOT ring the bell outside the front of the Field House.
